How Medicare Advantage works
Medicare Advantage plans are offered by private companies approved by Medicare. Instead of using Original Medicare, you get your hospital and medical coverage through the plan.
Most plans use provider networks, so it matters to check your doctors before you enroll.
Many plans include prescription drug coverage, and some offer extra benefits such as dental or vision coverage. Benefits, costs and availability vary by plan and by county.
You can’t use a Medigap policy with a Medicare Advantage plan, so it helps to understand both paths before you choose.
